Facts and Figures

Data taken from "Working Together to improve school attendance" DfE May 2022:

  • Children not meeting Expected Standard at the end of Key Stage 2 had average absence rate of 4.7% = 8.92 days.
  • Children meeting Expected Standard at the end of Key Stage 2 had average absence of 3.5% = 6.65 days
  • Children exceeding the Expected Standard at the end of Key Stage 2 had average absence of 2.7% = 5.13 days.

Good attendance is therefore an essential foundation to positive outcomes and is everyone's responsibility.

Our school attendance target is 97%. In order to achieve this, out of 190 school days, a child should only be absent for 5.7 days.

We monitor attendance in sessions. Each day has 2 sessions, morning and afternoon. 5.7 days = 11 sessions. This is why we notify parents/carers when a child has missed 10 sessions in order to identify any barriers to good attendance and the support we can offer to improve it.
