Welcome back! Letter for all Parents/Carers

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you and your families are well and have had a lovely summer holiday together. It is a shame we didn’t get to see more of the sun though! However, we hope you and the children are all rested and relaxed and are looking forward to returning on Wednesday 8th September 2021.

We are really pleased to report that after reading all the Government guidance that was published over the summer holidays we no longer need to keep children in ‘bubbles’ this academic year. This means we can begin to resume our usual pre COVID playtimes, lunchtimes, assemblies and school timings.  The Government guidance does state that “in some local areas it may become necessary to reintroduce ‘bubbles’ for a temporary period, to reduce mixing between groups”. We would of course keep you informed if this was necessary.

This letter will summarise some of the changes we are going to implement when the children return based on the current Government guidance. Please share this information with your child/ren before they return to school.

School timings: For children in nursery, your sessions are the same as stated on your session times that were sent out before the summer holidays. Please email Jodie Monnox if you are unsure of your child’s session times.

For children in Early years, Year 1 and 2, school starts at 8.50am and finishes at 3.25pm. For children in Years 3 -6, school starts at 8.50am and finishes at 3.30pm. The classroom doors are open from 8.40am and will close at 9am which means your child can go straight into their classroom.

If your child arrives after 9am, they will need to come to the main reception and sign in late. There is no longer a one-way system in operation so you are able to use any gate to walk into and out when dropping off and collecting your children.

Please can we remind you not to park in the school grounds to drop off or collect your child unless this has been prearranged.

Lunchtimes: Lunchtimes will return to the full 60 minutes. The children from Year 1-6 will return to eating in the main hall and in Early Years the food will be brought down to them and served by the mealtime assistants in the Key Stage 1 area.

PE days: After the success of the children wearing full PE kit on the day, they have PE at school we have decided to keep this system in place. Please can we remind you that PE kit is a white T-shirt, black shorts or jogging bottoms in cold weather and black trainers.

Change to school uniform: Children can also wear smart, black trainers to school all the time and not just for PE days. However, we appreciate that you may have already bought new school shoes so please don’t buy extra. You may wish to buy black trainers when they outgrow their new school shoes or for their next pair but this is not essential.

Main Reception window will remain: To reduce footfall through the school building we are going to continue with the reception window should you need to speak to one of the admin team. Visitors will be by appointment only for the time being.

Class emails will remain: Due to the success of the class emails to aid communication with teaching staff, the class emails will remain and will be operational shortly after our Trust IT department transfer them across to your child/ren’s new teacher. Please use the class email for teaching and learning communications.

Please continue reporting absences, medical appointments, change of address/contact details etc to our admin team and not through the class email page as they need to update our records accordingly as the teaching staff are not able to do this. The school admin address is

Homework: Homework will commence within the first couple of weeks of term and more guidance will follow via the class email. All years will continue to complete their homework via Google classroom as it has proved very popular with children and parents.

Pencil cases: We are continuing to try and limit the amount of equipment the children share in school so if your child wants to continue bringing in their own pencil cases and equipment, they are welcome to do so. However, we will be able to provide pencils, pens etc this year.

Classroom set up: The children will no longer need to sit in rows which means that group work and carpet time can resume as soon as the children return to school.

Breakfast club and TOPS club: Breakfast club and TOPS will continue as usual through the Schoolgateway system.

Medication: Please ensure your child’s medication is brought in on the first day of term. Forms will be sent out for you to update before the children return.

Covid Risk Assessment: Please look out for further COVID-19 guidance which will be emailed to you before the children return to school. This will allow us to provide you with the most up-to-date Government advice.

Premises works over the holidays: We are pleased to report that 2 new undercover canopies have been installed over the summer holidays in Nursery and Year 1. These canopies will help to enhance our outdoor provision and we are looking forward to seeing the children and staff use them in all weathers. We would like to thank Mr Morgan, our Premises Lead, for all his hard work and commitment in getting both of these installed and for all the time, energy and determination he has shown getting this completed over the holidays.

A huge thank you to Miss Cannon and her wonderful volunteers too who gave up their time during their holiday to get more of our outdoor environment ready for the children to explore and use. This hard work will also again enhance our outdoor provision and we know more exciting activities are planned for the future.

The school carpark and pedestrian gates are now working on a magnetic opening and closing system which means that you will need to press the button when you want to enter the school site. A member of the admin team will then be able to open the gate for you to enter. This is to ensure we are keeping the school site as secure as we can to safeguard all our children.

As you are aware, the COVID landscape is ever evolving and changing rapidly but we will endeavour to keep you updated with any new guidance which effects your child’s education. We want to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 8th September. Have a lovely weekend and last few days of the holidays.

Yours sincerely,

Sally Huxen and Martin Evely.
