In Fox Tor we aim to 'Reach for the Stars' in all areas of our learning!
We strive every day to improve our learning behaviours and
TAKE CHARGE of our OWN Learning!
We listen to each other,
We have a go!
We make mistakes,
learn and grow!
Who will 'Reach for the Stars' next?
Each half term children from each class will be able to achieve one of four prestigious awards!
A child could be considered for this award for a multitude of reasons but Mrs Ambrose will be looking for qualities such as INDEPENDENCE, children who are reading regularly at home, signing their journal, sharing their love of reading with other children or even participating actively in guided reading activities.
DO YOU ask questions about the character in your book?
DO YOU question why the author has used a certain type of font, interesting vocabulary or included that specific type of information in their sentences?
DO YOU predict what will happen next in a plot line?
DO YOU read different books at home and would like to share them with the class?
If you would like some suggestions on what activities, or questions for your child's reading please enquire any time after school or leave a message for me to respond to in your green 'Contact book'.
A child could be considered for this award when working COOPERATIVELY with others, investigating problems, sharing their answers and extending their learning by explaining their reasoning.
This term Mrs Ambrose chose a child for not only working with other children but for being a ROLE MODEL. Remember what Mr Evely says;
Year two children are a hose!

If you would like some suggestions on what activities, or questions for your child's mathematics please enquire any time after school or leave a message for me to respond to in your green 'Contact book'.
A child would be considered for this award if they are PERSERVERING to achieve their writing targets. Not only within their English book but across the board in all subjects.
ARE YOU acting on feedback or the action points in your STAR marking?
ARE YOU 'having a go' at using interesting vocabulary, different sentence openers or structures?
ARE YOU a 'GOOD WRITER'?
Remember what Mrs Ambrose expects;
Capital letters, writing on the line using finger spaces, sounding out all words and checking spelling and finally punctuation!
Most of all Mrs Ambrose would love to see children who produce quality written work over and above a quantity of writing that does not show your best writing where you are striving to meet and surpass your targets!
THINK IT, SAY IT, WRITE IT, READ IT!
Always edit your work Fox Tor!
Mrs Ambrose LOVES SCIENCE!
A child would be considered for this award if they are CURIOUS about the world around them, making observations, asking questions, exploring their knowledge and that of those around them. Challenging themselves to TAKE RISKS, find out more and always be hungry to discover!
Science is around us everyday and Mrs Ambrose will expect children to demonstrate their enthusiasm out of the bounds of lesson and investigation time... tell me if you spot a millipede in a tree, tell me if you hear a strange sound, show me the massive spider in a tree, no really!
